Search engine position in reports

Hello!

My suggestion is quite simple, but I don’t know if it is technically possible to do :

to know what was the position of a specific keyword referral in the results page of a search engine at the moment one clicked in it.

With this kind of data, webmarketers could know what are the most important keywords for their site, what are the keywords worth of an optimization.

What do you think? Is it possible? Thanks!

Do you mean something like http://dev.piwik.org/trac/ticket/502 ?

That’s a really good plugin, in google analytics, we also can find the page (with some tweaks). But, I think, it is not the same to be #1 in a particular keyword or #10, although it is the same page…

It is, imho, most relevant to have the positions in the first page, than just the page “in general”.

That feature would be so nice style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Should such a plugin handle the possibility that SERP position might change during the day?
What if you don’t have any visitors via that search engine on a given day? Do you want trends?
Is it necessary to collect keyword position results for all search engines? Could you live with Google, Bing, and perhaps a search engine popular in your particular region? (e.g., Baidu in China)

Not in the first step. But it would be great to have the min/max/average position in a later version.

What if you don’t have any visitors via that search engine on a given day? Do you want trends?

I don´t need trends, but if you use trends the point in the graph should be red instead of blue.

Is it necessary to collect keyword position results for all search engines?

Google has approx. 90% marketshare in germany, most webmasters don´t care about the other search engines.

To get the SERP position from Google see:

http://analytics.blogspot.com/2009/04/upcoming-change-to-googlecom-search.html

It would be also great, if I could see if a visitor has clicked on the organic search results or on adwords ads.

It says the file is not found when trying to download the latest version from:
dev.piwik.org/trac/ticket/502

Thanks

This should work: http://dev.piwik.org/trac/raw-attachment/t…inePosition.zip

Practically anything that impacts tracker performance is not a candidate for inclusion in the package.

We’ll make it easier to distribute, find, and install third-party plugins when we launch the plugins repository.

I have a related question.

What happen when someone change his Googles preferecies to show more results per page ?

I always set my Google to show 30 results per page.

Thanks

I think this is a very good suggestion for at least admins to use on piwik.

since google launched universal search results this topic became much more complicatet

I use 1lytics. It can to check the position in search engines of your site.
