'500 GET request to piwik.php failed' problem on Microsoft IIS7 platform

I am trying to install Piwik on a Windows server running Microsoft IIS7.

When it does it’s checks it give an error for ‘Tracker status’ which is 500 GET request to piwik.php failed. The fix information given presumes Apache server and recommend changing mod_security, etc but this does not exists with Microsoft IIS7. I have given the user full access rights to the piwik folder and sub-folders.

Does anyone have any suggestions how this can be fixed?
